Kodak Stops Making Cameras & Camcorders: Get ‘Em While You Can

Sadly Kodak recently announced it has given up on the camera and camcorder market entirely.  The iconic company has been going through some hard times and now will focus on making money, licensing out its many patients.

Kodak's ZI8, limited supplies, rising price

In response to that, the price for the popular ZI8 pocket camcorder, popular for its auxilary microphone jack, has substantially jump.  On many sites, expect to pay $450 dollars for the few remaining cameras left.

I have written about my excitement about the Playsport models, Generation 1 and 2.  These waterproof camcorders take great HD footage and can be immersed in up to 10 feet of water.  I’ve used this model to capture some great underwater footage.   See the video here.

Kodak Playsport: Waterproof, Rugged and Fast Disappearing

The question is, as supplies for this model dwindle, will the price on these nifty camcorders rise as well?  If you thought about purchasing a great waterproof camcorder, now is the time before they run out.

I lament the fact that Kodak, a household word in cameras is now abandoning them.  There digital cameras never seemed to catch on with the public in a big way.  Perhaps they jumped on the digital movement a little too late.  Probably they were a victim of their own tremendous success in the film market.  Even songs were made about Kodachrome.  Either way, it is a sign of the time, another American manufacturer giving up making products that were already made somewhere else.http://www.about.me/harveypoling

Its Sew Made Promotion using Iclone 5 & Vegas Pro

Marketers and ad creators have so many awesome tools at their disposal compared to only a few years back.  Using the animation software, Iclone 5 Pro has opened up a whole new world for animators on a budget.  As you can see in the example, how would you recreate a red carpet scene without thousands of dollars and extras?  With virtual animation, you can create your own worlds for every conceivable purpose.  Yes it is still time consuming, but just a fraction compared to stop action methods.

Here is a promotion for Its Sew Made, makers of personalized purses, bags and carry cases for every taste and style imaginable.  The flash effects were produced in Sony Vegas Pro, cutting up the red carpet scene into little snippets and using the hard flash transition.  Most of the other effects were produced in Iclone.

Mailman’s Life Episode #5: Rocket Carrier

Iclone 5 Pro has a wealth of features to discover.  Recently I’ve investigated some of the capabilities of the physics engine.  It’s been a little challenging understanding the concepts, but this latest video has some of those elements.  Using physics, allows an animator to have to manipulate all aspects of an action scene.  Set it up right and props will fling, bounce and explode by themselves.  By endless tweaking, you can adjust the results in never ending ways, just like real life.

This episode features a postal manager trying out a rocket pack on an unsuspecting carrier with explosive results.  The apathetic manager and scientist are funny, but it’s a little too close to reality sometimes.
